Privacy
This is a personal website. It sets no cookies, shows no advertising, and builds no profile of you. What follows is the complete list of what is collected, who else sees it, and why.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own, and stores nothing in your browser’s local or session storage. That is why you have not been asked to accept anything. Third-party embeds are limited to the image thumbnails described below.
Analytics
Two privacy-friendly analytics services run on the production site: Plausible Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics. Both are cookieless. They record aggregate counts of page views, referrer, approximate country, device type, and browser. Neither stores an identifier that can follow you to another website, and neither gives me the ability to identify an individual reader. Plausible processes data in the EU. Blocking either with a content blocker changes nothing about how this site works for you.
Server logs
This site is static and hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs, including IP address, for a short period as part of running the service. I do not query those logs to identify readers, and I do not export them anywhere.
The newsletter
The newsletter is run on Buttondown. If you subscribe, your email address is sent to Buttondown and stored there so the newsletter can be delivered. It is used for nothing else: no advertising, no sale or sharing with third parties, no unrelated mail. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address. You can also email me and I will remove it for you.
Embedded content
Video thumbnails for podcast appearances are loaded from YouTube’s image host, which means YouTube receives your IP address and user agent when that image is fetched. Fonts are self-hosted, so no font service sees your visit. Links out to other sites, including retailers and conference pages, are ordinary links: once you follow one, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Agents and crawlers
Automated clients are welcome here and are treated no differently from anyone else. Crawling is permitted for every user agent, as stated in robots.txt, and the same analytics notes above apply. Nothing on this site is gated, and no account is ever required to read it.
Your data
The only personal data I hold directly is a newsletter subscriber list, and only if you chose to join it. To see it, correct it, or have it deleted, email contact@denodell.com and I will action it. There is no form to fill in and no verification hoop to jump through beyond replying from the address in question.
Changes
If the services this site depends on change, this page changes with them, in the same commit. Last updated August 2026. Questions about any of it go to the contact page.
